After dusk and on and on
Oil, acrylic molding clay, plaster, muskrat skull and teeth
29x40cm
After Dusk and On and On explores decay and the end of a cycle, using an old muskrat skull gifted by Clulow’s first painting teacher. While death is often seen as the end, this piece reveals the quiet beauty in decay, calcification, and puts emphasis on what's left behind post-mortem. Natural textures and forms were recreated using artificial materials like gesso, modeling clay, plaster, and oil paint. This work continues their interest in the structure of bones and forgotten parts of the body, once fingernails, now a skull, highlighting how even remnants can hold meaning and aesthetic value.
